Monotheism

"Religion isn’t about blind leaps of faith nor a rejection of cold logic. Like all truths, theism does require a mind open to the possibility of its truth. And yes, the concept of the Divine is somewhat removed from the concepts of the material world. But not more so than the potter is distant from the urn. From the form of the urn, one knows something of its maker..."

"...Those of narrow scope, then, make one of two inferences about the existence of evil in this world. To some it implies polytheism. To other’s, her sister, atheism. But he of a broader scope does not ultimately see evil as an independent and substantive phenomenon. Instead, he is able to grasp the broader Good of which it is but a small part. This was the trait of Rabbi Akiba who saw in the ruins of the temple its future eternal rebirth. And who thus declared with his last breath, while his flesh was raked from his aged body, the Oneness of G-d. "
